Dialogue used in both short stories which are â€Å"The Neckless† and â€Å"The bet† reveal the function that reveals the aspect of the characters by showing their thinking,feelings,behavior. In the story of the necklace there are 2 main characters that show their feelings and also their thoughts and behavior. To begin with in the story Mathilde thinking she was beautiful and that she didn’t deserve to be a poor person because of her beauty. I know this because in the text it states â€Å" he was one of those pretty and charming girls born, as though fate had blundered over her, into a family of artisans. She had no marriage portion, no expectations, no means of getting known, understood, loved, and wedded by a man of wealth and†¦show more content†¦I know this because in the text it states â€Å" Next day she went to see her friend and told her her trouble. Madame Forestier went to her dressing-table, took up a large box, brought it to Madame Loisel, opened it, and said Choose, my dear. First she saw some bracelets, then a pearl necklace, then a Venetian cross in gold and gems, of exquisite workmanship. She tried the effect of the jewels befo re the mirror, hesitating, unable to make up her mind to leave them, to give them up. She kept on asking: Havent you anything else? Yes. Look for yourself. She fastened it round her neck, upon her high dress, and remained in ecstasy at sight of herself.† In â€Å"The Bet† one character shows how she feels about the raffle they have in the beginning because they killed whoever won. Through the story he thought that money was worth losing 15 years of life and being alone but changes after 15 years of loneliness. To start with a lawyer and a Banker were arguing that people would rather stay 15 years in a little house with out talking to someone and going outside and also would get 2 million dollars if he finished. I know this
